COMMITTEE

Paul Wezenbeek

Hi Waitemata FC Family,

Waitemata has been a huge part of my life. I first started playing here as a 6-year-old in 1989, progressing through the Junior and Youth grades before making the Men's 1st Team at 17 in 2000, where I played until 2009.

During that time, I was lucky enough to captain the team on many occasions and receive multiple Player of the Year awards, achievements I'm still very proud of. I also spent a couple of seasons coaching a junior team, which I really enjoyed.

In 2010, I moved across to Te Atatu FC for two seasons (please don't judge me too harshly for that!) before stepping away from football in 2012 to focus on work and spending time with my wife Nikki and our young family.

Waitemata has always been a family affair. My dad, Nick, spent many years on the Committee, including time as Chairman, and eventually became a Life Member. I spent countless hours at the club growing up, and it really has helped shape who I am today.

In 2019, my eldest daughter Ruby and son Braxtyn decided they wanted to play football, and there was only ever one club I was taking them to – Waitemata!

Coming back felt like returning home, and it wasn't long before I was coaching, refereeing and joining the Committee. I've been involved ever since, including serving as Club Secretary for the past three years.

Being new to the President's role, I can't promise I'll get everything right, but anyone who knows me will tell you I'll always give 100% to do what's best for our club and its members.

With the support of our Committee, coaches, players and all the amazing families that make up Waitemata FC, I'm excited about what we can achieve together.

If you have any questions, ideas or suggestions, or would like to volunteer your time, please don't hesitate to contact me at president@waitematafc.org.nz.

I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Paul
